Lake Tanganyika
Lake Tanganyika is full of bright and beautiful tropical fish, sandy shorelines and bustling little ports. It is the second deepest lake in the world at 1400m (Lake Baikal in Siberia holds the record) and at 675 km long, Tanganyika is the longest freshwater lake on Earth. Zambia shares the lake with Tanzania, DRC and Burundi so lake travelling between countries is a unique and exciting option (at the moment only Tanzania is recommended for travel). Lake access is from Mpulungu where you can easily find accommodation and rent a boat for exploration.
